Our Commitment

Chess365 is committed to ensuring digital accessibility for people with disabilities. We are continually improving the user experience for everyone and applying the relevant accessibility standards to ensure we provide equal access to all users.

Conformance Status

The Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) defines requirements for designers and developers to improve accessibility for people with disabilities.

Chess365 aims to conform to WCAG 2.1 Level AA. We acknowledge that our conformance is ongoing and we are actively working to identify and address any accessibility barriers.

Accessibility Features

Chess365 includes the following accessibility features:

  • Semantic HTML: We use proper HTML elements (headings, lists, buttons, links) to ensure screen readers can accurately interpret content structure.
  • Keyboard Navigation: All interactive elements are accessible via keyboard. You can navigate using Tab, Shift+Tab, Enter, and Escape keys.
  • Focus Indicators: Visible focus indicators are provided for all interactive elements.
  • Color Contrast: Text and interactive elements meet WCAG AA contrast requirements (minimum 4.5:1 for normal text, 3:1 for large text).
  • Responsive Design: The interface adapts to different screen sizes and supports zoom up to 200% without loss of content.
  • Form Labels: All form inputs have associated labels for screen reader users.
  • Error Identification: Form errors are clearly identified and described in text.
  • Skip Links: Navigation patterns allow users to skip repetitive content.
  • Alternative Text: Meaningful images include alternative text descriptions.
  • Dark Mode Support: Automatic dark mode support based on system preferences, reducing eye strain.

Known Limitations

Despite our efforts, some content may have accessibility limitations:

  • Third-party content: Some content from external sources (such as tournament data from chess-results.com) may not fully meet accessibility standards.
  • Email notifications: While we strive for accessible emails, some email clients may render content differently.
  • Dynamic content updates: Real-time updates may not always be announced to screen reader users immediately. We are working to improve ARIA live region implementations.

We are actively working to address these limitations. If you encounter any accessibility barriers, please contact us.
